Our Team
We aim to provide the very best customer service and dining experience but know that we couldn't do that without a skilled and motivated team. We're proud of what they achieve and so like to hero them, with thanks here:
Stephen Lloyd (Head Chef)
Stephen’s career in the kitchen started at the Ghyll manor Hotel, Rusper in 1987. After igniting a passion for the intense, creative environment of the kitchen he sharpened his knives at Browns restaurant in Oxford and then The Gwbert Hotel, Cardigan. In 1998 Stephen moved to Newquay and discovered The Lewinnick Lodge for the first time, working as sous chef for 2 years.
A thirst for greater knowledge took Stephen to Australia where he spent 10 years working in some of the finest restaurants in the country. Stephen worked as Head Chef of The Blue Water Cafe, Manly for 2 years before landing the job as Head Chef at Sydney’s award winning restaurant, Pier 26. Before leaving Australia his love for pan-Asian cuisine was heightened after working with a renowned Thai Chef at the Spirit House Restaurant, Noosa where 1 Chef Hat was achieved (equivalent to 1 Michelin Star).
Stephen returned to Cornwall in 2009 to work as executive chef at the 5 Star Retallack Resort & Spa. In April 2011 Stephen was appointed Head Chef at The Lewinnick Lodge where he has set about developing the food offering to incorporate the wealth of experience he has gained on his travels.
Away from work Stephen enjoys spending time with his young family and when time allows surfing at Cornwall’s many fine beaches.
Daniel Trotter (General Manager)
Daniel was brought up in the busy world of hospitality working a number of different roles for his family’s business. After graduating from The University of Surrey in 2003 with a degree in business management Daniel decided to take a year out to travel.
Using his visit to Australia to gain valuable experience and skills in front of house operations Daniel ‘cut his teeth’ at The Gold Coast’s best seafood restaurant, Shuck, and the Indy car main restaurant, ‘Manos’. Returning to Cornwall in 2005 he rejoined the family business as manager of the Met Bar & Restaurant.
Daniel now oversees the running of both The Lewinnick Lodge and The Plume of Feathers as general manager. Over the past 5 years he has delivered impressive levels of growth and nurtured a culture of professionalism and excellent customer care.
In his spare time Dan enjoys playing tennis and golf, travelling (favourite place - Italy) and has recently become a proud dad to baby girl, Elise.
